Algorithmic trading (algo-trading, automated trading, or black-box trading) is the process of using “intelligent” computer programs to place trades into a market. An algorithm consists of a complex set of rules based on market information such as time, price, quantity, volume, historical data, etc. Computer programs are fast, so they can take advantage of opportunities at a speed and frequency that’s impossible for human traders to match. Apart from profit opportunities, algo-trading makes markets more liquid and makes trading more systematic by ruling out trading decisions based on human emotion.       Next >>>
